Senior portrait location series
The Matthaei Botanical Gardens are a beautiful location in Ann Arbor Michigan. It’s a great, popular location for senior pictures for obvious reasons.
It’s a large location so I break it down into three different sections.
• The “front” is free to use and has fields, wild flowers (when blooming, usually July-Sept-ish), paths, tall grasses and a wood walking bridge.
• The “back” is an area that is gated off, so only open on the days and hours that the Botanical Gardens is open. They charge a $35 fee for high school senior portraits to use this area and the inside. The back area has multiple garden areas, one with a stone and wood pergola, planted flowers and wild flowers. A second garden area with flowers, hedges and bench. I discribe this area as an English garden vibe. There is also a green tunnel and more.
• The greenhouse is also an option to use once you’ve paid the fee. It has three different rooms, two are tropical and one is filled with stone walls and catus. It’s a great option when it’s cold outside.
They do charge for parking.
