I always aim to capture this one thing in every photo session from a Northville photographer

I specialize in Senior pictures and Headshot/Branding portrait sessions. These types of sessions have different experiences and goals. But the one thing I aim for at every shoot is variety.

Nobody wants to open their gallery of images only for them to all be similar with slight variations. I feel strongly that no matter the session, you should walk away with variety and options. For very simple shoots, this could mean getting both of your “sides,” but with most photoshoots, your gallery is going to give you a lot of variety that could include: different backgrounds, clothing, posing, expression, cropping, focal length, lighting, and more.

Here are some examples of real sessions and how I achieved variety for my clients.

For this senior session with Emma, it’s the same location, lighting, and outfit. I achieved variety in the images by capturing close-ups and wide shots, having her look at camera and off camera, and different posing, including movement, sitting, and standing.

For this branding session with Judy, the examples are in the same location, my Northville studio, the same backdrop, and the same outfit. I was able to give Judy options and variety in posing, expression, different cropping, and using props for her to engage with.

These images from Ajay’s session are all about the same cropping and focal length. The variety is in the locations, clothing, and expression.

For this headshot session with Judy, it’s all in the same location, my studio. I was able to get variety for her with different color backdrops, clothing options, posing, and expression.

In this last example, Katie’s outfit doesn’t change, but there is variety in the lighting, movement, and backgrounds.
