Your Senior pictures should be unique to you
Senior pictures capture a special time in your life! They should, of course, capture you at your best but also feel like you. There are many subtle and not-so-subtle ways to customize your senior portraits. Let’s go through your options.
Location choice
I ask my seniors where they feel “comfortable” when choosing their senior picture location(s). Do you feel more at home in fields and flowers in a quiet nature location, or are you excited by exploring architecture and colors in a city? If they both represent different sides of your personality, it would be important to choose a location that has both or do two locations.
But those aren’t your only options; maybe you have a location that is meaningful or special to you. Pictured below, Caroline in her favorite ice cream shop and Jacob on the beach up north near his family cottage.

Sports
Sports can be a big part of your childhood and high school experience. I tell all of my seniors that we can incorporate them as much or as little as they would like. We can go all out with the location, clothing and equipment, or some seniors prefer just a few images with a nod to their sport. This could be just a couple of pictures with a soccer ball or a varsity jacket. Some seniors choose to not to incorporate them at all, and that’s ok too!

Pets
Pets are a big part of our lives! I’m always happy to meet your furry friend and make them a part of your senior portraits. Let me know if this is something you’re interested in, and we’ll talk about how to help incorporate your pet so it goes as smoothly as possible. There are also some locations that are not pet-friendly! (the nerve!)

Your style
What you wear to your senior pictures has a big impact on your images. Your personality and style should shine through. I do a phone consult with my seniors to help ease the stress with tips and advice, and I encourage my seniors to get variety within their outfits.
I’ve written a few blog posts on what to wear for your senior pictures. You can check them out on the blog here and just type “what to wear” in the search bar!

Hobbies
Hobbies are also a big part of you are so they should be honored if you would like! They are also something we can incorporate as much or as little as you would like. It’s also my job to figure out how to make it happen, so if you really want to bring something but aren’t sure how it’ll work, don’t worry that’s my job! 🙂

Something special
You might also have something special to you that you would like represented in your senior portraits. Christina’s image below may look like she likes flowers or we decided to get creative; however, she brought those little daisies. We talked before her session, and she wanted to do something with daisies because it’s her middle name and she was named after her grandmother.
Ryan is ending his long journey as a Boy Scout. And it’s nice to get a few images to celebrate all his time and effort.
We were able to get some really fun images of Blake on the boat at his lake house, where he really enjoys spending time.
The blue chair in Emmy’s image is very special to her Mom since it belonged to a friend who has passed and Emmy was photographed on it as a baby!
